One District, One Community, One School System

Moultonborough is a community that values education and its local public schools. It is a community that desires the best for all students and has high expectations for those who serve the community's children. Through this website learn more about the multiple facets of education within the District—academically, athletically, artistically, and socially.

Moultonborough School District grew from a kindergarten through 6th grade system to a K-12 SAU in 1980. In 2018 the district created a middle level (Grades 5-8).  It is comprised of 2 buildings and 3 schools. Our community continues to provide Moultonborough students with a comprehensive education, including college prep and/or career ready academics, technology school opportunities, art, music, physical education, world languages, a variety of electives, co-curricular activities, and sports teams for every season.

Update on Moultonborough School District's plan to return to school
from Patrick Andrew, Supt. of Schools. August 14,2020:

 O
ptions for students this fall:

1) Return to School in person (85% of families surveyed indicated they plan to have students return) Students returning to school will be required to wear a mask at all times except when taking designated mask breaks directed by a staff member. There will be staggered start dates (PK and Kindergarten may further stagger starts as students learn routines)

  • First Day of School for K,5,7,9 - Sept 9
  • First Day of School for 1,6,8,10 - Sept 10
  • First Day of School for all remaining grades - Sept 11

2) Moultonborough Remote Learning Division:

Several certified Moultonborough teachers at each grade level (Elementary, Middle and High School) will be delivering remote classes for families that choose this option. Not all the details are worked out at this point but there are great teachers working hard on their remote instruction strategies to make this work for students and families that choose this option.

3) Virtual Learning Academy Charter School VLACS

This option may be available for some students at some grade levels. This is a Charter School in NH that takes students for remote learning.  Many grade levels are full due to the number of NH students enrolling but many courses remain open. a recent memo from VLACS to educators is available here.

4) An individualized plan- We are open to helping families find what works for them. For example: If you homeschool  but still want your child to be on a sports team? - No Problem. If you have a high school student taking an online course through another accredited high school or college- we will accept the credit. These are difficult times and we want to help students and families find what works for them.

We appreciate your patience while we work through the details of our in school and remote plans. There have been multiple committees working on these details throughout the summer.

Thanks again for your patience and support.

District Message on Equity and Social Justice
from Superintendent Patrick Andrew, June 9, 2020

The recent killing of George Floyd, the ensuing widespread riots and protests may leave children with many questions and emotions.  These issues can be difficult to discuss with children in an age appropriate manner. The Moultonborough School  and Community Charter has five pillars: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Compassion and Moral Courage.  I want to make clear, both personally and on behalf of Moultonborough Schools, that we will do all we can as a school system to uphold these ideals. We will address them directly in our educational programs, and in our engagement with students and families, working for a world that is equitable and kind; where people do not have to fear for their lives because of the color of their skin; and where everyone has the same opportunities to grow, thrive and enjoy their lives. Here is a link to our website where school staff will be posting educational resources over the next couple of days that may help you in discussing these issues with your child.            http://www.sau45.org/departments/curriculum_coordinator/equity_and_social_justice_resources

Please be aware that the district buildings are closed to visitors.
If you need to access any of the buildings or school personnel, please call for an appointment. We will be practicing CDC recommendations for social distancing during these interactions, including the wearing of masks. Thank you.
